Prep and Aftercare
Botox/Fillers
- After your treatment, you might have some redness and swelling. This will normally las less than seven days. A cold compress may be used immediately after treatment to reduce swelling.
- Avoid touching the treated area within six hours following treatment. After that, the area can be gently washed.
- Sunbathing and cold outdoor activities should be avoided until any redness or swelling disappear.
- If you have previously suffered from facial cold sores, there is a risk that needle puncture could contribute to another recurrence. Speak to your physician about medications that may minimize a recurrence.
- Avoid exercise and alcohol for six hours after treatment.
- Having a follow-up treatment before the product has fully dissipated may enhance the lasting effect. Please consult with your medical aesthetic professional for an appointment.
- Avoid the following facial treatments: microdermabrasion, facials, massage, and waxing, until 12 hours post Botox® treatment.
- One week prior to your next treatment, avoid taking St. John’s Wort, high doses of Vitamin E supplements, aspirin, and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen and Advil. These agents may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site.
Photo Facial
- Avoid bathing or washing with very hot water. Use tepid water. You may feel like you have a mild or moderate sunburn. Minor crusting or minor peeling of the surface layers of the skin is not unusual. Over the counter Hydrocortisone and Aloe Vera Gel may help with redness and inflammation of your skin.
- Keep the area clean. Wash gently.
- Avoid direct sun exposure and artificial tanning after your treatment. If you do go in the sun, protect the treated area with a sunscreen of 30SPF or higher.
- So not shave the treated area for at least 24 hours after the treatment or if the area is inflamed or irritated.
- Avoid any irritating medications or chemicals, particularly on the face. Examples of these are: Retin-A, Benzyl Peroxide, Glycoloc Acids, or Astringents.
- Slight redness may be present and typically resolves within 24 hours. If prolonged irritation occurs, please call out office.
VI Peel
First 24hrs
- Do not wash, touch or apply make up to treated areas for 4 hours. If you can tolerate it, leave the peel on until evening or next morning.
- However, if you have itching or irritation prior to the 4 hour time period, you may wash treated areas with a mild cleanser and water. Do not rub treated areas with anything harsh.
- Make up can be applied over treated areas after 4 hours.
- Washing treated areas on first night:
- Approx. one (1) hour before bedtime, wash face with a mild cleanser and water, dry well, and apply one of the post peel towelettes to the peeled area.
- If needed, you may start applying V.I. Derm Moisturizer to relieve any irritation.
Second Day
- Approx. one hour before bedtime, wash face with mild cleanser and water, dry well, and apply 1 of the post peel towelettes to the peeled area.
- If you feel extremely dry or uncomfortable, you may begin using the V.I Derm Moisturizer included in the kit.
- If needed, you may apply a very light layer of hydrocortisone 1% or 2.5% cream to relieve irritation or redness. If the hydrocortisone cream does not relieve your discomfort, please call us for additional assistance.
Day 3 – 5
- You will start the peeling process by seeing slight sloughing of the skin, first around the mouth, then following the rest of the treated areas. (If treated, the neck, chest, back and hands will take slightly longer to start peeling (up to a week).
- After peeling begins, Apply V.I Derm moisturizer as often as necessary for comfort or to hide and sloughing of the skin. This will also aid in the elimination of picking the peeling skin. You are advised to refrain from picking the skin so redness, irritation and hyper-pigmentation do not occur.
- When washing treated areas morning and night, old skin will slough off. Wash and pat dry. Do not scrub. Then apply V.I. Derm Moisturizer.
Day 6 and Later
- You may resume your usual skin care regimen, if your skin is still sensitive or becomes red or irritated, wait until sensitivity subsides.
Medical Peel
First 24hrs
- Keep head elevated and avoid friction with pillows.
- Avoid excessive pressure on the face.
- Avoid direct sunlight. Re-apply an SPF 30 or higher every two hours.
Second Day
- Skin will be tight and dull in color.
- Dark colored skin or scabs may form (These will lift off during the exfoliation process).
- Stinging sensation and sensitivity to light may be present.
Skin Care
- Begin to wash face twice daily with cool water and facial cleanser Apply daily moisturizer and sun protection.
Third Day
- Continue skin care instructions.
- Skin will be tight and may start to flake or peel.
- Do not scratch, pick, or pull the skin.
Fourth to Tenth Day
- Continue skin care instructions.
- The skin begins to normalize.
- Skin is noticeably smoother, clearer, and even.
